Antonia Díaz participates in a debate on fiscal stimulus to combat the pandemic

The Econ-Pol Europe network and Intereconomics have organized a conference in which several experts, including Antonia Díaz (Associate Professor at the Carlos III University), discuss whether the EU can learn from the US in terms of fiscal policy measures to combat the coronavirus pandemic, and what lessons could be applied, or vice versa. The session is part of the prestigious “CEPS Ideas Lab”.

Juan José Dolado, Professor of Economics at the Universidad Carlos III, participated last Tuesday 25th May in the online dialogue wich was broadcast live through the Fundación Rafael Del Pino, with the title European Funds and Structural Weaknesses of the Spanish Economy. Labour Market.

Also were present Raymond Torres, director of economic and international economics at FUNCAS and Manuel Sanchis i Marco, professor of economics at the University of Valencia.

Econometric Game 2019 Team

The Department of Economy has selected the team that will represent the UC3M in the International Competition “Econometric Game 2019” that will take place from 11 to 13 April in Amsterdam.

This competition faces teams from International Universities. . The participation of UC3M is guaranteed thanks to the perfomance of our teams in the last editions. “Econometric Game 2018” was the last timein which our students were winners.

Among the challenge, our  team will have 2 days to solve a case study in econometrics. In case of being finalists  they will have to solve a second problem whose results will be exposed in the Econometric Game Congress where severak soeakers will talk about the methods in econometrics necessary to solve it. Solutions will be reviewed by a jury of independent and qualifed teachers who will announce the winner.

The “Econometric Game 2018” team has been selected among students from P.hD. Programme in Economics and Economic Analysis Master and it is formed by the following members:

-Telmo Pérez (Master in Economic Analysis student)
-Miguel A. Cabello (P.hD. Student and team leader)

SAEe 2018

Universidad Carlos III de Madrid is pleased to host the 43rd Simposio de la Asociación Española de Economía-Spanish Economic Association (SAEe), to be held in Madrid, Spain, on 13 -15 December 2018.

The main goal of the Spanish Economic Association is the promotion and dissemination of scientific knowledge in economics through the organization of conferences, publications and any other activity that may further that aim. The Simposio brings together experts in all areas of economics every year in December. The Spanish Economic Association Job Market, intended for PhD graduates in economics, also meets during the Simposio.

Plenary Lectures will be given by Estelle Cantillon (Université Libre de Bruxelles), Julian di Giovanni (Universitat Pompeu Fabra) and Luigi Guiso (Einaudi Institute for Economics and Finance). Nezih Guner (CEMFI) will deliver the Presidential Address

Fundación Ramón Areces and the Spanish Economic Association will award 100 fellowships for job market candidates who are presenting a paper at SAEe. All papers submitted for a job market session will be automatically considered for these fellowships, and the selection will be done by the Scientific Committee, based only on scientific quality.
