New Research Honorary and Emeritus

From now, Full Professors:  Félix Lobo y Javier Ruiz-Castillo have become Honoray Members in the Institute of Economics of Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. Luis Corchón  becomes Professor Emeritus of the Department of Economics at the Carlos III University of Madrid.

Félix Lobo is graduated in laws and Phd in Economics.  He became  Full Professor in Universidad de Santiago de Compostela and Universidad de Oviedo in 1980. From 1990 to 2017 he had a position as Full Professor in Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. He has been General Manager of Chemistry and Sanitary Products, President  of La Agencia Española de Seguridad Alimentaria y Nutrición and currently, he is the  President of Comité Asesor para la Financiación Farmaceútica del Sistema Nacional de Salud. In 2009, H.M. Juan Carlos I, awarded him with  la Gran Cruz de la Orden Civil de Sanidad.

Javier Ruiz-Castillo, Phd in Economics in  Northwestern University, has been Full Professor in la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, General Manager of Instituto Nacional de Estadística and from 1990 to 2017, Full Professor in  Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. His research has focused on Welfare Economics and Public Economics and recently on Scientometrics.

Luís Corchón, Phd in Economics in  Universidad Complutense de Madrid and London School of Economics has been full professor in University of Alicante (1988-1996), UPF (1996-1997) and Universidad Carlos III de Madrid Since 1997. His research focuses in Industrial Organization and mechanism design.

Irma Clots-Figueras wins the XVIII Banco Sabadell Foundation Award for Economic Research

Irma Clots-Figueras  has been awarded for her quantitative research work on gender aspects in political economy. // The Banco Sabadell Foundation Award for Economic Research, endowed with 30,000 euros, recognizes the work of researchers in the field of economic, legal and social business knowledge

Barcelona, 26 de junio de 2019-. The jury from the XVIII Premio Fundación Banco Sabadell a la Investigación Económica awards to Dra. Irma Clots-Figueras (1977, Vilanova i la Geltrú, Barcelona) as winner of the 2019 prize, endowed with 30,000 euros, for her work of quantitative research on gender aspects in political economy. The award will be delivered on October 8 in Oviedo.

Irma Clots-Figueras is a reference in the field of political economy and development economics, areas in which she has dealt with a wide variety of topics, such as the political participation of women, the importance of the education of political leaders , the costs and benefits of gender quotas and how education contributes to modeling identity. His work is an example of how economic research techniques are very useful for the rigorous analysis of issues of great relevance and social impact.

Her work, published in top-level academic journals, have been widely cited and have had a great impact on the sector.

She has a degree in Economics from the Pompeu Fabra University, a PhD in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a professor at the University of Kent. He has developed his academic career in the Economics Department of the University Carlos III  of Madrid.

Fundación Banco Sabadell award to the Economic Research

 

This award, whose endowment amounts to 30,000 euros, aims to encourage and recognize the work of researchers in the fields of economic, business and social knowledge and contribute to the analysis and formulation of alternatives that promote social welfare. It has been convened since 2002 and has an annual nature. It is aimed at researchers under 40 years – age that can be extended to a maximum of one year for each child when there are interruptions in the professional career due to maternity – that have an outstanding research curriculum in the aforementioned fields. The candidates for the prize are proposed by researchers, universities, academic and research centers, foundations, companies and other national and international institutions.
